FAQ

Questions we get asked

Tray, canopy or service body - which one do I need?

It comes down to whether the factory tub stays on.

Keeping it? The Rigex tub canopy clamps over the top. Nothing is drilled and nothing is cut, so it is the quickest way to lockable, dry storage.

Taking it off opens up three: the 1800mm ute tray gives you a flat deck you can load anything onto, the T Series service body locks everything away and lays it out, and the H Series pairs a tray with a matched canopy. Tell us what you carry and we will point you at one.

Touring or Essential? Which Rigex tub canopy is right for me?

Same aluminium build, different sides. Touring has glass sides so you can see in and out. Essential has solid sides, better if security matters more than visibility.

Both get the glass front-cabin window and the glass rear door with security panels as standard, both are three-door with two gullwing sides plus a rear door, and both carry the automatic interior LEDs that come on when a door opens.

What comes with the 1800mm ute tray?

The premium kit is the 1800mm dual cab tray, two mud guards, two tapered undertray toolboxes, a flat plate tail panel and sequential LED tail lights. The tray comes with sides, a mesh headboard and tie-down rails.

The deck is 1800 x 1800mm internal, the headboard stands 920mm and the sides are 240mm. The undertray boxes are 900mm long in 2.5mm flat plate aluminium.

A rear rack, a trundle drawer and a black powder-coat finish are the usual additions. Ask for them with the quote.

What is the difference between the T Series and the H Series?

Both replace the tub with an alloy body, but they are built for different work.

The T Series is one chassis-mounted service body: 2.5mm aluminium in black powder coat, two large side-opening doors, underbody storage boxes, mudguards, and front and top Unistrut rails. It suits trade work where the load is tools and stock.

The H Series is a tray with a matched canopy on it. The tray runs a 4.0mm deck floor with a built-in 40L stainless water tank, a trundle drawer, side boxes, mudguards and a headboard - no drop sides. The canopy has a roof platform, spare wheel mount, jerry can holder, rear ladder, four-point locking and jack-off capability, so it comes off the tray when you need a flat deck. It suits touring and anyone switching between gear and loads.

What can I add to a service body?

The standard 1800mm body comes 1800 x 1800 x 900mm, and there is a wider 1800 x 1950 x 900mm version.

The usual additions are a third door, a 1700mm trundle drawer, ladder racks and a roof rack platform. Tell us which of those you want and we will price the build with them in.

What happens to my factory tub?

It unbolts, and a tray or service body goes on in its place. Removal and disposal of the tub is part of the fitting.

If you want to keep your tub rather than have us dispose of it, tell us when you book. We need to know before the build, not on the day.

What electrical work is involved?

Fitting covers the electrical work for the tail and number plate lights, and relocating the standard reverse camera or sensors.

Aftermarket electronics and blind spot sensors are not covered. Blind spot radar relocation in particular is quoted separately, so tell us at quote stage if your Shark 6 has it rather than finding out at fit-out.

How much payload do I have left?

Removing the tub gives capacity back; the tray, canopy and anything you bolt into it takes it away. A full service body fit-out and a loaded water tank add up faster than most people expect.

We work the weight out with you before the build, and we will tell you if a spec puts you over.

Will this affect my BYD factory warranty?

Fitting an accessory does not automatically cancel a vehicle warranty in Australia. A manufacturer would need to show that the modification caused the fault being claimed.

We document what was done so a dealer can see exactly what was and was not touched. If warranty matters to you or your fleet, raise it with your dealer before you book and we will give you the fitting detail in writing.

Do you make these for other utes?

Yes. The Rigex tub canopy is made to suit the Toyota Hilux, Kia Tasman, Ford Ranger, GWM Cannon, Mazda BT-50, Isuzu D-MAX and LDV T60 as well as the BYD Shark. Trays, service bodies and combos fit most dual cab utes.

Tell us the make, model and year and we will confirm the fitment.

Can you fit it, and do you deliver interstate?

Fitting is available and quoted with the build. Ask us which of our stores can take yours.

Supply-only units can be crated and freighted, so tell us your postcode and we will price the freight with the quote.
