Stonegate motorcycle trailer saved a driver’s life

By November 27, 2015March 3rd, 2023Trailers

At about 9pm on Saturday, 7 November 2015, a Mazda sedan towing a motorcycle trailer failed to negotiate a bend on the approach to the Running Creek Bridge on the Brooweena Woolooga Rd while driving toward Woolooga.

The female driver from Brisbane lost control of the vehicle which then left the bridge nose-first. Dramatically, the vehicle came to rest hanging from the tow hitch of the trailer which was still on the bridge.

Because of the injuries she received in the crash, the driver was unable to get out of the vehicle as it hung suspended over the Running Creek. Emergency service personnel secured the vehicle before the driver was removed and transported to Gympie Hospital for treatment. Police are pleading with drivers to be careful in this area as this is the third vehicle that has left this bridge in similar circumstances in the last year.
